For DVD authoring the footage is either captured from a video source into a computer or taken directly from digital files off a CD. This is then edited into a MPEG2 file with relevant chapter markings. Encoding can be set to a constant or variable bit rate to achieve the highest quality. Menus can be created with various backgrounds, music, titling, hot key buttons. DVDs can also be created in either PAL or NTSC and auto-repeat.
